 How Valentines Day Started

According to the facts written in the book 'Aurea of Jacobus de Varagin', there was a priest in the city of Rome named Saint Valentine. He believed in promoting love across the world. For him, true life was in love. But Claudius, a king of the same city, did not find this to be true at all. It seemed to the king that both the intellect and power of men get corrupted and exhausted due to love and marriage. For this reason soldiers and officers could not get married in his kingdom.

Saint Valentine strongly opposed this wrong order of King Claudius and openly inspired the citizens of Rome to have love and marriage. Not only this, Saint Valentine also got the marriages of many officers and soldiers done. This made the king very sad, his anger flared up and he ordered Saint Valentine to be hanged on 14 February 269. From that day every year, this day was celebrated as 'love day'. It is believed that Saint Valentine donated his eyes to Jacobus Jacobus, the blind daughter of the jailer at the time of his execution. Saint also wrote a special letter to Jacobus, at the end of which he wrote 'Your Valentine' Your Valentine. This was the story of the short but great immortal love of Valentine who was sacrificed for love.
